Your files belong to you. Not our servers.
DiskUni is built with a fundamental privacy-first architecture: all disk inspection, duplicate analysis, and cache purging happen strictly offline on your local device.
100% Offline Local Scans
The DiskUni desktop software executes all scanning algorithms locally. Your directory paths, filenames, document contents, and file trees never leave your computer.
Zero Behavioral Telemetry
No background keystroke tracking, no app activity monitoring, and no persistent telemetry daemon. When you close DiskUni, nothing stays running in the background.
Encrypted Direct Billing
All purchases are processed directly by industry-standard merchant gateways (Stripe / Paddle). DiskUni never touches or stores your credit card numbers.
GDPR & CCPA Compliant
You hold total sovereignty over your personal data. You can request deletion or inspection of any customer support history at any time.
1. Introduction & Overview
DiskUni ("we", "our", or "us") operates the website https://diskuni.com and the DiskUni desktop software application. We are committed to safeguarding the privacy and security of our users. This Privacy Policy details the types of information we do and do not collect, how customer records are managed, and your rights under applicable data protection laws.
By downloading, installing, purchasing, or using DiskUni, you acknowledge and agree to the practices outlined in this policy.
2. The 100% Offline Desktop Application Architecture
Unlike cloud-connected utilities that upload storage statistics or scan diagnostics, the DiskUni desktop application operates entirely in offline mode:
- No File Scanning Telemetry: File names, paths, folder structures, file contents, modification dates, and disk partition tables are processed in volatile local RAM and are never transmitted to our servers or third parties.
- Cryptographic Hashes: When computing SHA-256 duplicate hashes, checksums remain strictly in memory on your device to determine duplicate matches and are discarded upon closing the scan.
- Audit Journal: The undo and deletion history log is stored locally in your operating system's designated application data directory and is never synced to any remote database.
- No Tracking Daemon: DiskUni does not install background services or root certificates that monitor user activity when the application is terminated.
3. Information We Collect on Our Website
When you visit our marketing website (diskuni.com), minimal standard web server logs may be generated for reliability and DDoS protection:
- Anonymous Technical Logs: IP address (anonymized/truncated), browser type, referring URL, time of visit, and pages requested.
- Essential Preferences: We use local storage on your browser strictly to remember your Dark/Light theme toggle preference (
diskuni-theme). We do not use intrusive third-party advertising cookies.
4. License Key Purchase & Activation
When purchasing a DiskUni Lifetime License:
- Payment Gateways: Transactions are handled by PCI-DSS compliant payment providers (such as Stripe or Paddle). We receive only your email address, purchase date, order transaction ID, and licensed tier to deliver your activation key.
- Cryptographic Key Validation: During initial activation, DiskUni performs a lightweight cryptographic signature verification to confirm your license validity. No hardware fingerprinting or invasive device tracking is conducted.
5. Data Protection Rights (GDPR, CCPA & Global Laws)
Under the European General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA/CPRA), and similar international laws, you have specific rights regarding your personal information:
6. Children's Privacy
DiskUni does not knowingly solicit or collect personal information from children under 16 years of age. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us immediately, and we will promptly delete such records.
